Foundation of Rooted Living Wellness

My journey toward Rooted Living Wellness began long before this program was created.

As a nurse, I often heard and shared with patients that prevention is key. Later, while pursuing my Master’s degree in Public Health Nursing from Johns Hopkins University, I began to realize that prevention involves much more than annual visits, screenings, or vaccines.

Prevention is also shaped by the everyday choices we make. What we eat, what we expose our bodies to, how we rest, and the rhythms we live by all influence our well being.

Over the years, the healthcare system has impacted my life and my family’s well being in many ways. We have experienced moments where the system worked well and other times where it revealed its limitations. Those experiences led me to begin asking deeper questions about health and prevention.

This journey also led me to become more intentional about the foods we eat, the ingredients we bring into our home, and the ways we cultivate healthier rhythms in everyday life.

Going Back to the Root

Nearly twenty years ago, I realized that if I wanted a different outcome for my health and my family’s well being, I needed to look beyond the general information about health and start making intentional changes.

So I began with myself. I became deeply curious, and at times frustrated, about the steady decline in health that I was seeing around me. That curiosity led me to begin asking questions such as:

  • What did God intend when He designed the human body?

  • What natural systems has He already placed around and within us?

  • What have we exposed ourselves to that may be working against those systems?

  • What might our bodies be telling us through the symptoms we experience?

During this journey, I was also blessed with a husband who is a pharmacist. Together we began exploring these questions and looking more closely at the everyday choices that influence health.

For us, going back to the root meant embracing what God already blessed humanity with, become more aware of what we eat, the household items we use, the rhythms we live by, and how our daily habits shape our well being over time.

Why I Created Rooted Living Wellness

Rooted Living Wellness grew out of both personal experience and my professional background in healthcare and public health nursing. Through years of learning, observation, and experience as a nurse, I began to recognize how many people desire to improve their health but feel overwhelmed by conflicting information and constant wellness trends.

At the same time, my studies in Public Health Nursing strengthened my understanding that true prevention extends beyond clinical care. It also includes the everyday habits, environments, and lifestyle choices that shape the health of individuals, families, and communities.

Rooted Living Wellness was created to offer a space where individuals can slow down, ask better questions, and cultivate sustainable habits that support long term well being.

My hope is not only to encourage individual wellness, but also to contribute to a broader awareness of how everyday choices influence the health of our families and our communities. The focus is not quick fixes or extreme approaches, but a thoughtful return to the foundational practices that support the body over time.
